The meandering Huangpu River cuts Shanghai into two distinct precincts...a sort of "Manhattan" on one side, and 19th-century "Victorian and Edwardian" history on the other...and everywhere stunning hotels, eating places, parks, museums, art galleries, neighbourhood markets and modern malls.  Traffic-free Nanjing Road is a must for shopping...plus the world's fastest commercial train...the 431-km Maglev train, offering the world's most thrilling airport transfer.

Day 1

Upon arrival, your local English speaking Shanghai guide will meet you at the airport, or other location and take you to visit the Oriental Pearl TV tower, for a bird's-eye view of this modern city. Then on to Shanghai's landmark - the historic Bund for a stroll along the riverside. Later on time for shopping in famous Nanjing Road. After dinner, have a cruise on the Huangpu River for the night view of Shanghai before transferring to your hotel.

 

Day 2

After breakfast, visit the classic Yuyuan Gardens, then on to the bustling Yu Bazaar nearby, where you can pick up some souvenirs. Lunch is at a Mongolian Barbecue, which is as much a show as it is an exotic eating experience. Later, enjoy a walk along the adjoining Shanghai Old Street, with its endless streams of pedestrians, traditional shops, tea houses and theatres. Later to the incredible Shanghai Urban Planning Museum on the People's Square to learn about the past, present and future of this vibrant city.. This evening enjoy the feel of old Shanghai at Xintiandi, where a plethora of restaurants will attract you for drinks and dinner.  Later, be amazed by the sensational performance of the famous Acrobatic Show before returning to your hotel.

 

Day 3

Day 4

After breakfast, you will have a free day until your evening transfer to the station for the ride of your life. The Maglev bullet train will take you to the airport for your flight to your onward destination.
